Classic and Romantic. Impromptus op. 90, Allegretto D. 915 y Tres Klavierstücke. (Exceptional CD, Scherzo Magazine, March 2008)
Perianes presents himself as an authentic poet who interprets another poet, and he does it with intensity and passion, with agitation if necessary, and always with lyricism, admirably controlling dynamics, with an intelligent use of pedal that encircles a clarity almost classical and dependent on every moment on the expression; how a Schubert should be. Technically it’s evident that he’s superb, but it’s in the artistic realm of his performance where he toasts us with the authentic and essential Schubert, classic and romantic. A lovely disc that definitely highlights Perianes as one of the most prominent pianists of the moment.

Schubert. Impromptus op. 90. 3 Klavierstücke
Javier Perianes glances at Schubert to recognize his special sincerity and charm. Through Perianes’ performance, Schubert is perceived as delicate, prudent in the tenuous contrasts and subtle inflections. With Perianes as the communicator the vigor of the rhythm is never exceeded, nor is the melodic sense exaggerated; the form grows convincingly by development rather than by opposition between the sections. But none of this can be appreciated if one does not assume a listening of this recording from a point of departure that seems very far from our time as is a prolonged degustation, a state of daydreaming and time without a schedule.

Schubert. Impromptus, Allegretto
This young Spanish proves himself a natural Schubertian in the Impromptus. He is beautifully recorded so that the nuances of his playing can be fully appreciated. Perianes´s playing captures its magic to perfection.

Schubert, Impromptus op. 90, Allegretto D. 915 and 3 Klavierstücke D. 946
A truly sublime disc, one of the great classical recordings so far this year….. we have these seven impromptus and an allegretto by Schubert whose lyricism occupies a musical Olympus. It indicates conclusively that this is a pianist of such sensitivity and sensibility that he is already one of the greatest of this generation.

Schubert Impromptus op. 90 and Drei Klavierstücke
This disc of Schubert solo piano works reveals some of the most selflessly probing performances of this composer since the legendary Sviatoslav Richter…. The disc´s real prize is Schubert´s late-period Klavierstücke, which are often so harrowingly spare that you can´t imagine a performance without Perianes´s incredibly precise, sensitive touch. This may be one of the piano-disc gems of the still-young year.

Perianes Bares Schubert
The premature maturity of a pianist who has not yet reached 30 years is unveiled in a work such as this one, faced with a overwhelming personality to these authentic, intimate confessions of the Viennese genius… Perianes astounds with his capacity to travel through this universe with as much elegance as depth… The performance is full of ideas, nuances, expressive content. A profound sense of the internal breath of the music, of its essence, of its affecting emotive force, puts the composer and performer in an intimate connection. Schubert is Perianes and Perianes is and will always be Schubert.

Four Impromptus op. 90, Allegretto D. 915, Tres Klavierstücke
The young Spanish pianist Javier Perianes skillfully enters [the Impromptus Op. 90] with a sweet and melancholy intimacy. At first it may seem a bit severe; however, it achieves a difficult reconciliation between romanticism and austerity. Everything remains like a long poem that one recites to oneself: the tone is one of introspection; the nuances, so minute; the phrasings, captivating.
