BEETHOVEN: Moto perpetuo

harmonia mundi Apple Music Amazon Spotify

In search of perpetual time. If the device known as moto perpetuo has travelled all through the history of music, from Franco-Flemish polyphony down to the American minimalists, it is probably because it encourages us to question our relationship with the infinite. More than a century before the constructivist movement, when he explored this eminently mechanistic form, Beethoven already took that process of questioning to the brink of existential vertigo! His works form the basis of the enthralling programme presented here by Javier Perianes.
