Javier Perianes Brings His Tribute to Falla to Latin America

Pianist Javier Perianes will embark on a Latin American tour at the end of June, giving four recitals dedicated to Manuel de Falla in the year marking the 150th anniversary of the Cádiz-born composer’s birth.

The tour will begin on 23 June at Teatro Solís in Montevideo and continue on 25 June at the National Theatre of Costa Rica (San José), on 27 June at Teatro Ateneo in Ciudad del Saber (Panama), and on 29 June at Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires.

With this programme, Perianes offers a perspective on Falla through his musical connections with Frédéric Chopin and Isaac Albéniz. The first half of the recital places some of the Andalusian composer’s early piano works alongside representative pages by Chopin, while the second half brings together Falla’s Cuatro piezas españolas and a selection from Albéniz’s Iberia, two landmark works of the Spanish piano repertoire.

Following his return from Latin America, Javier Perianes will present the same programme on 6 July at the Granada International Festival of Music and Dance, in the Patio de los Arrayanes at the Alhambra, before taking it to Australia later that month.
