Javier Perianes records Noches en los jardines de España with Gustavo Dudamel
On June 12, Alma y fuego will be released, the new album by the Simón Bolívar Symphony Orchestra of Venezuela, conducted by Gustavo Dudamel. The project is dedicated to the music of Manuel de Falla and includes Noches en los jardines de España, with Javier Perianes as soloist, alongside El amor brujo, with Pasión Vega, and El sombrero de tres picos.
Recorded in 2025 as part of the 50th anniversary of El Sistema, the recording coincides with the 150th anniversary of Falla’s birth and offers a journey through three complementary visions of Andalusia, expressed in some of his most representative works.
In Noches en los jardines de España, one of the most distinctive works in the repertoire for piano and orchestra, Falla develops a language of great subtlety and evocation, in which the piano is integrated into the orchestral texture, moving away from the traditional concerto model.
For Javier Perianes, this recording represents a particularly significant moment in his career: “To perform and record a work as close to me and as deeply admired as Noches en los jardines de España, in the very year marking the 150th anniversary of Manuel de Falla’s birth, alongside a conductor of the stature and prestige of Gustavo Dudamel, and in London - the city where El sombrero de tres picos was premiered - is a milestone in the life and career of any pianist. Even more so for a Spanish performer, Andalusian like Falla, who has grown up with his music at the forefront of his dreams and of his own recital programmes”.
